About

...the goal of living is to grow, forgetting why, remember how...ee.c.

Hello, I’m Karen Cummings, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with more than 17 years of experience in the mental health field. I provide a compassionate, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic environment for adults navigating life’s challenges and seeking greater insight, emotional well-being, and meaningful change. Talking about deeply personal experiences and expressing our feelings openly can feel vulnerable. At times, the weight of emotional pain can feel overwhelming. We all encounter difficult experiences that challenge us in unexpected ways. You may be grieving a loss, navigating an unexpected life transition, rebuilding trust after betrayal, establishing healthy boundaries, or working to strengthen your sense of self-worth. Whatever brings you to therapy, you do not have to navigate it alone. Seeking support is a meaningful step in your healing journey. My clinical approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). CBT can help us explore the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while DBT-informed strategies can provide practical skills for emotional regulation, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, and responding to life’s challenges with greater intention. I am certified in Theta Healing energy work, a meditation-based modality that I incorporate as a complementary approach when appropriate. It can provide opportunities for self-reflection, mindfulness, and exploration of underlying beliefs and experiences as part of a broader approach to emotional well-being. Using this approach helps us listen to what our physical bodies may be communicating to our emotional well-being. As a neurodivergent therapist with personal experience navigating a late diagnosis of ADHD, I bring a creative and flexible perspective to my work. I am an “out-of-the-box” thinker and may incorporate creative ideas, thoughtful challenges, and meaningful conversations to encourage new perspectives and insight. And, when appropriate, you can expect a good dose of humor along the way. Whether you are returning to therapy or beginning for the first time, our work together will center on your goals and healing, at a pace that feels right for you. I believe therapy should provide a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental space grounded in empathy, acceptance, and authenticity. I work exclusively with adults ages 18 and older and provide telehealth services only. Virtual appointments are available Mondays and Tuesdays from 8:00 AM–5:00 PM and Fridays from 8:00 AM–2:00 PM.
